Leadership Award Criteria

To be eligible for the Leadership Award, nominees must meet the following criteria:

ABWA Membership Status: The nominee must be a member of their league in good standing.
Membership Duration: The nominee must have been a member for at least 5 years.
Professional Standards: The nominee models the highest standards of professionalism, commitment, integrity, and accountability in their work.
Leadership Style: The nominee leads by example and through encouragement and inspiration, rather than by authority, for the benefit of others.
Promoting Culture: The nominee promotes a culture of respect, dignity, fairness, and trust.
Facilitating Dialogue: The nominee facilitates dialogue, the sharing of ideas, and collaboration toward shared purposes.
Inspiring Engagement: The nominee energizes those working with them, inspiring engagement and a shared vision.
Fostering Innovation: The nominee fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration in the work of others.
Championing Others: The nominee champions the work of others above their own.
Genuine Support: The nominee demonstrates genuine care and support for the career and personal development of others.
Leadership Roles: The nominee has served in leadership within their league.
HAC Board Service: The nominee has served on the HAC board.

HAC Award

This award honors a heart-centered ABWA member — someone who lives the ABWA mission daily, supports her fellow members, and strengthens the league through her consistent presence and wholehearted engagement.

We are shifting the focus of this award to recognize those who may not always be in leadership, but who consistently uplift others and embody what it means to be an ABWA sister.

HAC Award Criteria:

Membership Status: Member in good standing within her league.
Membership Duration: At least 3 years of ABWA membership.
Mission-Driven: Actively lives out the ABWA mission through her actions and support of others.
Reliable Presence: Known for showing up and serving — with consistency, care, and heart.
Community Spirit: Encourages connection, belonging, and sisterhood within the league.
Supportive Role: Invested in the growth and success of fellow members, even outside of formal leadership.
Positive Impact: Contributes meaningfully to league culture, collaboration, and member engagement.
